Meet the team
 

Crystal Horwood, Managing Director

Crystal joined PACE in 2007 and was appointed to her current role of Managing Director in 2010, heading up the company founded by her father in 1994. She is responsible for the daily operations of the business, whilst also ensuring the company is financially sound, has strategic direction and is planning for future growth. Crystal takes a thoughtful and considered approach to all that she does, transferring her determination to deliver implicit care, attention and professionalism to every member of her team. 

Prior to joining the company, Crystal worked in France for Mountain Property. Here, she gained a valuable range of experience covering many aspects of the property industry including sales, lettings, management and development. Her strengths are in short and long leasehold property management, the right to manage, block management, collective enfranchisement and lease extension.

Crystal also worked for UBS Warburg in London as a researcher in the Global Investment Strategy team before moving to France.

Martin Ransom, Branch Manager

With nearly 25 years experience in the property industry, Martin is well placed in his role as Branch Manager for PACE. After joining the business in 2010 Martin took it upon himself to foster excellent customer service among the team and this continues to position PACE as a leader in its field today.

Starting his career in 1987, Martin worked for the Financial Services Corporation as a Mortgage Broker where he quickly excelled. After only three years he was successfully managing the Mortgage department. By 1996, Martin had moved to Sterling Properties working in the lettings field for the first time. It was here, working alongside the founder of the business, that Martin developed the financial services arm of the company. After many years of hard work, the London Scottish Banking Group acquired Sterling Properties where Martin remained as Head of Operations.

Matthew Sloman, Residential Sales Manager

Matt joined PACE in January 2011 as Manager of the Residential Sales department. As an experienced Estate Agent, Matt’s successful approach to property sales is focused around getting to know his clients and taking care of them from the beginning to end.

His career spans some 26 years in the industry, wholly spent within the South East Essex area. His local knowledge is second to none and he appreciates exactly what the area has to offer each potential resident.

From the age of 16 he has progressed from junior levels in a number of prominent independent agencies to senior partner level in a multi office organisation.

Marcus James, Lettings Manager

In 2008, Marcus chose to take a change in career direction away a supervisory role in retail to move in to the property industry. He began with PACE in the lettings department as a negotiator in 2008 and moved into his current position of Letting Manager in 2011. In his day to day role, Marcus ensures our landlord clients get the best return in the right timeframe for their investments by conducting rental appraisals, letting viewings and oversees the running of the lettings department.

Since having achieved his ARLA technical award, he completely understands the needs and wishes of his clients. Marcus brings a deep commitment to the service of both landlords and tenants to PACE.

Marcus lives with his partner and young family in Southend and is currently studying for an NVQ in Sales and Management.

Kelly Jenkins, Accounts Manager

Kelly joined Pace in 2008 as an Accounts Assistant having acquired 4 years’ experience in a number of financial roles with other local companies. During her time at Pace, she has continued to expand her skill set and demonstrated her knowledge and ability within the accountancy field. This resulted in a promotion to Accounts Manager in 2009. In this, her current position, she has proved herself to be an approachable, reliable and a well organised member of the team.
 
Kelly is a studying member of the Association of Account Technicians and is due to become a full member during the next year. Her professional development continues to progress as she works towards achieving additional accountancy qualifications.

In 2010 Kelly took on a new role when she became a first time mother to her baby, Aimee. She now balances being a busy parent and a valued member of the Pace team.
